Don't pull up the plant before it has time to produce fruit!

Here's an interesting short post I read in a recent email from Mary Morrissey about recognizing that there is a gestation period for everything, including your ideas.

While traveling, I came upon a great article by Warren Buffet. He was speaking to what is called the law of gestation; the amount of time required from seed to full blown whatever the seed is. Like if there is an amount of time required for an acorn to become a mighty oak tree, there is an amount of time required for each thing. He said honoring that there is an amount of time required is one of the best things. Most people start something and give up on the idea or project before it comes to fruition. They pull up the roots looking for the fruit when the seeds hadn’t even been given time to grow into a fruit tree. So if you’ve planted some seeds of ideas or projects, give it some time. Keep nurturing it. Water those ideas. Dig deep in the soul of becoming and let your ideas become results. Warren Buffet said some things, no matter how great the talent or effort; some thing just take time. You can’t produce a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant. It made me laugh. I hope it does you too.

That comment seems to fit this site well. Sometimes I feel like nobody is posting but a few people plus the directors. I guess it is like Facebook and will take a while to reach critical mass. I'm sure the first 300 members of Facebook were wondering if it was going to succeed as well.

At a Peak Potentials seminar T. Harv Eker told us about a Bamboo plant.

When it comes to plants with impact, bamboos have no equal. They can grow 4 feet in one day, screen from view a neighbor's looming two-story house within a few years, or transform a traditional backyard into an exotic retreat.

But... this doesn't happen as soon as you plant it - it takes a long time for the bamboo to plant its roots so that it has a solid base to grow from. We as humans doing personal development are planting our roots and will grow FASTer and Faster as our roots become stronger and stronger!!!

Did I ever tell you that I studied bamboo in Japan? I apprenticed under a National Living Treasure on Bamboo. - Yep - I know - bragging rights are mine on the topic of bamboo. And here is it: Bamboo may take 2 or 4 years for the foundation of it's intricate root system to spread out, but then - kabammm! it'll shoot up to 80 feet in 60 to 90 days! Yes that's DAYS!!

I love this analogy to personal development work - Thanks Andrea!

Perhaps this is what makes the farmer an essential member of society; the ability to be able to wait for the right moment to harvest the crop.

I'm so envious of Jill's time in Japan. Gotta get there soon!

Off topic, but I just love those bamboo hardwood floors. So beautiful!
